Nestled in the heart of Glasgow’s vibrant Royal Exchange Square, Glaschu Restaurant & Bar offers an exquisite celebration of Scottish culinary artistry combined with a sophisticated bar experience. Specializing in elevated Scottish cuisine, Glaschu tempts diners with an impressive menu that harmoniously blends local flavors, premium ingredients, and innovative dishes crafted with flair and precision.
The moment you step inside Glaschu, the atmosphere exudes a warm yet refined charm—perfect for intimate dinners, special celebrations, or relaxed evenings with friends. The sleek bar is ideal for savoring expertly mixed cocktails like the Old Fashion or a glass of Prosecco, setting the stage for a memorable night. As one delighted guest, Mark Taylor, shared, the bar’s cocktail selection is masterfully curated and the perfect way to unwind before dinner.
Glaschu’s menu is a veritable feast for the senses. Start your journey with elegant starters such as the Roasted Orkney Scallops crowned with Apple Ayrshire Bacon Jam, Stornaway Crumb, and a zing of Yuzu—a dish where the sea-sweet scallops play beautifully against smoky and citrus notes. The Lobster and Langoustine Cannelloni with Cepe Purée and Shellfish Velouté is an indulgent treat that layers rich textures and deep, sophisticated flavors, elevating traditional seafood fare to new heights. For a cozy beginning, the Jerusalem Artichoke Velouté with a crisp-poached egg and black truffle offers earthy warmth balanced by delicate nuttiness.
For main courses, Glaschu truly shines. Their signature Sharing Beef Wellington, crafted for two, is an absolute must-try—flaky, buttery pastry encasing tender, succulent beef that melts in your mouth. Fans of game or hearty meats will be equally impressed by the expertly cooked Venison and the tender Roast Lamb with Yorkshire Pudding, both prepared with care to highlight Scotland’s finest produce.
Don’t miss Glaschu’s desserts, which transform classic Scottish and British sweets into refined works of art. The Sticky Toffee Pudding delivers warm, rich caramel goodness, while the Dark Chocolate Crèmeux offers an intensely velvety texture balanced by crisp chocolate crumb. Lighter palates will appreciate the refreshing Pineapple Carpaccio with passion fruit sorbet and lemongrass. This is a place where every bite is a thoughtfully crafted escape.
Beyond the food, the service at Glaschu leaves a lasting impression. Numerous guests have praised the warm, attentive, and knowledgeable staff—like Jasmine and David—who enrich the dining experience with gracious hospitality and engaging conversation. Caroline Mackin fondly recalls feeling as if the restaurant was their own private space, with staff turning every interaction into an inviting glimpse into Scottish culture and charm.
Whether you’re catching up with friends over amazing drinks and vibrant dishes, as Laura Hook enjoyed, or celebrating a special occasion with a loved one, Glaschu provides an intoxicating blend of authentic flavors, impeccable service, and an inviting atmosphere. It’s no surprise that loyal patrons like Mark Taylor sing its praises for the friendly, handsome waitstaff and the consistently high-quality offerings.
While some note that food arrival times can sometimes feel leisurely, the thoughtful preparation and generous portions make every moment worthwhile. As Vik Dowlul observed, patience is richly rewarded with tremendous flavors and memorable dishes that delight from starter to dessert.
At Glaschu Restaurant & Bar, Scottish tradition meets contemporary elegance in a setting that makes every meal feel special—whether you’re a local or visiting this dynamic city for the first time. An experience here is not just dining; it’s a heartfelt invitation to explore the finest Scotland has to offer through food, drink, and warm welcome.

My wife and I LOVED Glaschu! The whole experience was really nice. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves and the staff, Jasmine & David, were especially wonderful! Jasmine served us and we had a great time chatting with her about Scotland and our trip. They were helpful and professional! We had a great meal and a great bottle of wine. I’d highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a more private dining experience or date night. It’s quiet and lovely.
Was meeting up with a group of friends we hadn't seen for a while. Drinks were amazing, food was amazing, staff were really lovely and friendly! Would really recommend this place. Can't wait to visit again!
I’m a longstanding Glaschu customer and wanted to tell the world how wonderful it truly is, so here goes. On this occasion I went for dinner with my husband, who wanted to treat me to something special, and it was. After a warm welcome from the handsome gentlemen waiters (sorry I didn’t take your names!) we opted for expertly mixed cocktails in the bar first which helped us relax and we had a lovely chat with a friendly couple, as the intimate surroundings encourage. We were then taken to our table with views of Exchange Square and the rest of the restaurant. Whilst it was completely full, the table had plenty of space and we weren’t in too of anyone. Our meal was delicious. A relaxed and tasty affair. For starters we had the lobster ravioli and scallops. A lovely precursor to the beef wellington with broccoli, lobster mac n cheese and fries. All beautifully cooked, and just to our taste. We were too full to eat anything else. Our waitress was Rachel and I can’t thank her enough for listening and guiding to our wants, and successfully delivering a wonderful experience. Overall another luxurious evening in one of the finest restaurant’s in Glasgow. Thank you Glaschu!
If I could I would give it 4.5 stars as the service was quite slow. Well actually not the service but the time it took to get the food out. The food was all tremendous though and good portions. Rabbit starter was quite meaty while the venison main was cooked very well. Although not very well, pink to be clear. Apple dessert was one of the best I have had in a long time. Food was priced accordingly. Will be back.
Highly recommended! Great environment, nice stuff! Love the beef wellington! Superb!
Update 21 November 2025 Today we had the pleasure of having another excellent lunch accompanied with a nice bottle of Macon Villages and Veuve Cliquot. As usual the service and attention was great. My wife made choices from the Market Menu, I selected from the main menu. The Market menu is great is great value for money. I had the scallops and pork belly for starter, this dish was awesome. I followed this with my main choice loin of Scottish venison that was cooked to perfection. My wife had the 6oz flat iron steak which too was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had creme brulee, one of my favourite go to desserts. Today the brulee was quite bland and the consitency was more like soft scramled eggs. This has not put us off visiting again sometime soon. A nice end to our visit, this was my wifes birthday lunch, she was given a plate with various small tarts and Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce. Very much appreciated. Once again we highly recommend dining here for that special touch. one more review August 2025 This time we had a family lunch, 4 adults, we opted for the three course lunch. What great value. This place is definitely amongst the best places in Glasgow for dining. The food is great, the atmosphere is great. **Update after our second visit Today we visited Glaschu for the second time. This time everything was very smoothe. The menu was great, a varied selection. We ate from the a la carte menu, however the lunch menu looked great too and reasonable at £20 for 2 courses and £30 for 3 courses. Our food was delicious. I had the lobster ravioli to start and my wife the crab tian, both 10/10! My wife had the venision as a main while I had the butter squash risotto, again delicious. Unfortunately for us it was too tasty and we ate more than we should have. The cheese selection was excellent and included some Scottish cheeses. Service was excellent, not rushed at all, service this time was 5*. After todays visit we would highly recommend a visit. If you want to diine on a saturday then I'd definetely recommend making a reservation. We will return soon. This was our first visit to Glaschu and we had high expectations from reading reviews online. Our arrival was not the best. There is a restricted access to the restaurant where you are required to press a buzzer for access. After 3 buzzes to get access on a cold , 3˚C windy Glasgow day we were eventually given access and told over the buzzzer "come up". Once we went up and arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a member of staff who instructed us to wait there. This felt like sitting in a take-away waiting for our order! A short time later, maybe 15 minutes we were shown to our table. The restaurant is very nice and relaxing environment, however the dried flowers remind me of an 1980's hotel. We were given menus and a nice amount of time to read the extensive tempting menu. All choices sounded very tasty. Our appetisers arrived and they were very tasty and well presented. I asked for a alcohol free beer at this time. While eating our appetisers I saw other diners arrive at the reception. I saw many members of staff completely ignore the people waiting who had obviously just been buzzed to "come up". When our appitisers were finished and cleared away I had to remind our server that we had still not recieved the alcohol free beer. The starters arrived and looked very appitising , we were very impressed. Again newly arrived diners were seen at the reception and more or less ignored by staff. I must add this was not a very busy service. Our main cousres arrived and like before looked and tasted delicious. Our overall impression from our experience was it was "okay". The four star review is for the menu, presentation , quality and taste of the food. The front of house staff and waiters, except our waiter, were very much lacking in customer service. Will we return? Simply , yes. For the food. For the welcome and service mmmmm, not so sure.
Atmosphere and service was top notch. Our beef was a little chewy, I managed to eat mine but my partner sent hers back and got the chicken instead. Staff were great and offered a free drink for the inconvenience. Quite pricey, but lovely place. Starters were really good!
